Use these guidelines to get the best cutting outcomes and grass look.

  • Keep blades sharp all season long (sharpen monthly or as needed for optimal performance).
  • Run the machine at maximum speed.
  • At a single stripe, cut only two-thirds of the cutting cylinder.
  • Mow only when the grass is dry.

Try one or more of the following if the final lawn seems unsatisfactory:

  • When mowing, walk more slowly.
  • Unless there is very little grass or it is late fall and the growth of the grass is slowing down, do not cut below the 2 ½ inch setting. The grass may look ragged or uneven when the cutting height is raised from an established setting until it acclimates to the new established cutting height and regains its normal appreances. Increase the frequency of lawn cutting
  • With each pass, overlap the cutting swaths rather than cutting a complete swath.
  • To maintain the grass standing straight, mow in different directions. This helps spread the clippings, which promotes fertilization and breakdown.
  • After every usage of the mower, clean the dirt and cuttings. (The quality of cutting will be impacted by grass accumulation in the mower.) Instead of using a metal tool, use a wooden one.
  • Mow when it gets to 6 to 8cm.
  • Never remove more than 1/3 of the grass in a single mowing session.
  • The first cut should be around 5cm high
  • If grass has grown very tall, gradually reduce height over multiple mowing sessions.
  • Keep mower blade sharp to ensure clean and clear cut preventing the tearing of grass.
  • In the first year, keep the cut high if weather becomes dry.
  • Minimize walking on new turf before and after the first cut to prevent them from smothering the new grass.
  • Cutting too short can stress the grass and expose soil to weeds.
  • Cutting before roots are established can uproot the turf.
  • A dull blade tears the grass, leading to browning and disease
